Edgemere Oktoberfest FundraiserBy Mark Clopton, EPPI PresidentTuesday, November 03, 2009On October 11th, over 100 neighborhood residents and well wishers braved cool and cloudy weather to besiege the home of Jann & Terry Hook in a Fall induced frenzy for bratwurst, beer and home touring. Guests at the event were treated to authentic German cuisine, locally brewed COOP Ale and the musical stylings of Mr. Erick "I-should-haveworn- my-jacket" Alexander. Due to this tremendous show of support from guests and sponsors our 2009 Oktoberfest produced just over $4,600, which is enough to fully fund the capital campaign launched only a year ago at our 2008 Oktoberfest! I want to thank all those who bought tickets to support our initiative, the EPPI board for their gung-ho teamwork, and Jann Hook & Denise Waters for providing the leadership and tenacity to develop, fund and implement our capital campaign. Our little community is going to be greener, brighter and more inviting because of our efforts to organize and work toward shared goals. Thank you! In the coming months, look for the final stages of our capital campaign to be realized: ornamental street lights around the perimeter of the park and a large granite marker added to the newly landscaped entrance at 36th & Robinson. Please support our Oktoberfest event sponsors! A special thank you to all our Oktoberfest volunteers! |
